Associação entre os sistemas afetivos neurobiológicos e a sintomatologia neurocognitiva

Abstract

O conhecimento relativo ao funcionamento do cérebro humano tem evoluído num sentido que evidencia a intercomunicação e interdependência entre as partes que o compõem. O objetivo deste estudo assenta na compreensão das relações que existem entre a Sintomatologia das Redes Neuronais Complexas (SRNC), situadas maioritariamente no neocórtex, e os Sistemas Afetivos Neurobiológicos (SAN), localizados na área subcortical, e ainda o impacto que estas variáveis podem ter ao nível da sintomatologia psicopatológica e do bem-estar. A amostra consistiu em 176 participantes, com uma média de idades de 38.6 anos, com predominância do género feminino (75.6%). Os resultados revelaram uma associação positiva entre a SRNC, e o afeto desagradável (AD), associado aos SAN, e negativa com os afetos agradáveis (AA). Demonstrou-se também que a sintomatologia na Rede Frontoparietal Executiva (RFPE) e Rede Default Mode (RDM) pode ser preditora de alterações nos AD, mas que para os AA apenas a última pode gerar mudança. Por fim, verificou-se o papel mediador do AD, na relação entre o bem-estar e a SRNC, e o efeito mediador que a sintomatologia na RFPE e RDM têm na relação entre o bem-estar e a sintomatologia psicopatológica. Os resultados reforçam a interdependência que existe entre as áreas do cérebro, o que sugere a necessidade de aprofundar o conhecimento referente aos níveis destes construtos. The knowledge regarding the functioning of the human brain has evolved in a direction that highlights the intercommunication and interdependence between its parts. The objective of this study is to understand the relationships that exist between the Complex Neural Networks’ Symptomatology (CNNS), located mainly in the neocortex, and the Neurobiological Affective Systems (NAS), on the subcortical area, and the impact that these variables can have on the individual’s well-being and psychopathological symptoms. The sample consisted of 176 participants, with an average age of 38.6 years, with a predominance of the female gender (75.6%). The results revealed a positive association between the CNNS and disagreeable affect (DA), associated with the NAS, and a negative association with agreeable affect (AA). It was also determined that symptoms associated with the Frontoparietal Executive Network (FPEN) and Default Mode Network (DMN) can be predictors of changes in the DA, but that for PA only the latter can generate changes. Finally, the mediating role of the DA was verified in the relationship between well-being and CNNS, as well as the mediating effect that symptoms associated with the FPEN and DMN have in the relationship between the well-being and psychopathological symptoms. The results reinforce the interdependence that exists between areas of the brain, which suggests the need to deepen the knowledge regarding the levels of these constructs.
