A satisfação
bidirecional.

Intimate relationships are important stages in human life, yet many individuals are victims of violence. Most violence is bidirectional and a significant risk factor for violence is marital dissatisfaction. Marital satisfaction is a concept used to assess happiness and stability in a relationship, although there are numerous variables that influence it. The aim of this study was to investigate the predictors of marital satisfaction in an intimate relationship characterized by bidirectional violence. The study sample was collected online and 610 participants were given a sociodemographic questionnaire, the revised conflict tactics scale and the marital satisfaction inventory. Of the sample, 335 participants reported bidirectional violence. Gender, age, parenthood, intimate relationship and marital status proved to be related to marital satisfaction. The regression model was significant: couples who are in a relationship are more satisfied, as are couples who suffer less violence. The exploration of marital satisfaction within a violent relationship, the standardization of concepts and the exploration of the predictors that may be associated with it, leading individuals to remain in the relationship, is unprotected. Practical implications and future studies are contemplated in this research. Keywords: Intimate partner violence; Bidirectional violence; Predictors; Marital satisfaction
