This work aims to highlight the importance of the existence of the Portuguese armed forces and in particular the Air Force, addressing some of the interventions that it carries out daily and occasionally, both in a national and international context. Despite being in a context of peace, the Portuguese armed forces continue to play a fundamental role in modern society, in the prevention and maintenance of security, at national level and in collaborative work in defense, security and maintenance of peace at an international level. It is important to highlight the missions carried out both to protect the country and to defend air and territorial space, from a European and NATO perspective. Currently, the missions carried out by the Portuguese State aim both to defend international airspace, with missions associated with Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, and the maritime territory, which is larger than European territory, focusing on need for cooperation at both European and NATO levels for interception and prevention of trafficking, coastal, ground and aerial control. Portugal also assumes, in this way, an important role in maintaining the defense of territory and the proliferation of peace in developing countries that currently continue to have major problems both in terms of violence and economics. This work is about the collaborative effort between the Portuguese Air Force and the member countries of NATO, the European Union and some countries of CPLP. In this way, it is imperative that Portugal continues to invest in professionals and trained militarized forces that guarantee diplomatic relations work, in order to maintain relations with the remaining countries cohesive and, at the same time, sublime, so as not to place itself in situations that conflict with pre-existing relationships and agreements with other countries with which it maintains international relationships.
