A experiência de terapeutas na condução de psicoterapia em pandemia Covid-19: preferências e impactos

Em dezembro de 2019, a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS 2020), detetou o aparecimento de um novo vírus que se desencadeava na cidade de Wuhan, na República da China – o novo coronavírus ou SARS-CoV-2. Estava então estabelecido um contexto de alerta mundial – a pandemia COVID-19. Por parte dos/as terapeutas, foi reforçada a necessidade de uma nova adaptação às circunstâncias específicas de modo a promover uma intervenção mais facilitada, nomeadamente através da comunicação á distância. Este estudo teve como principal objetivo compreender qual a experiência dos/as terapeutas na realização da psicoterapia em contexto pandémico. Método: trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, sendo que para tratamento de dados recorreu-se à análise temática. A amostra foi de oito participantes, com idades compreendidas entre 26 e 46 anos (M=36,00, DP= 8,28), que relataram a sua experiência da condução da psicoterapia neste contexto, bem como as suas: preferências e impactos percebidos. Foram utilizados como instrumentos para a realização do estudo um questionário sociodemográfico e uma entrevista semiestruturada. Resultados: Podemos verificar que os temas centrais deste estudo foram a adaptação à pandemia, a psicoterapia online e psicoterapia presencial. Foi verificado ainda que a adaptação à pandemia teve impacto nos/as terapeutas. Conclusão: Este estudo foi muito relevante pelo facto de dar voz ao/à terapeuta, no sentido de entender qual o impacto que a pandemia teve na sua vida pessoal e profissional. Para estudos futuros sugere-se a replicação da investigação com um maior número de participantes.

In December 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO 2020), recognized the emergence of a new virus that was unleashed in the city of Wuhan, in the Republic of China - the new coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2. A context of global alert was then established – the COVID-19 pandemic. On therapists`behalf, the need for a new adaptation to specific circumstances in order to promote a more facilitated intervention, namely throught distance communication. The main objective of this study was to understand the experience of therapists in carrying out psychotherapy in a pandemic context. Method: For this study,qualitative in nature thematic analysis was used for data processing. The sample of this study was composer of eight participants, aged between 26 and 46 years (M = 36.00, SD = 8.28). They reported their experience of conducting psychotherapy in such context, as well as their: preferences and perceived impacts. A socio-demographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview were used as instruments to carry out the study. Results: We observe that the central themes of this study were adaptation to the pandemic, online psychotherapy and face-to-face psychotherapy. It was also verified that the urge of adaptation to the pandemic had an impact on the therapists. Conclusion: This study was very relevant because it gave voice to therapists, in order to understand the impact that the pandemic had on their personal lives. For future studies it is suggested to replicate the research with a greater number of participants.
