Violência bidirecional em relações de intimidade e perceções acerca da relação pais-filhos

dc.description.abstractO tema em estudo tinha como foco a violência bidirecional nas relações de intimidade, associada à forma como os pais envolvidos neste contexto percecionam a relação com os filhos. A escassez de estudos sobre a temática conferiu relevância e pertinência à investigação da mesma. Desta forma, o objetivo deste estudo consistia em compreender se existiam diferenças nas perceções acerca da qualidade da relação pais-filhos, entre pais envolvidos em relações íntimas caracterizadas por violência unidirecional e pais envolvidos em relações íntimas caracterizadas por violência bidirecional. A amostra foi constituída por 138 participantes, de ambos os sexos, com idade igual ou superior a 18 anos e com filhos menores de idade. O presente estudo foi realizado online e os dados foram recolhidos através de um questionário sociodemográfico, do Inventário de Violência Conjugal (IVC) e do Inventário da Relação Pais-filhos (PCRI). Assim, de acordo com a literatura, a hipótese inicial foi que os pais perpetradores de violência bidirecional apresentavam uma menor perceção da qualidade da relação com os filhos do que pais perpetradores de violência unidirecional e do que pais sem violência. De facto, os resultados da investigação demonstraram que os pais (homens e mulheres) envolvidos em relações íntimas caracterizadas por violência bidirecional apresentam perceções de menor qualidade na relação com os filhos. Isto porque, existe uma maior tendência para os casais transporem para a relação com os filhos as dinâmicas que estabelecem na relação conjugal (Cox & Paley, 1997; HosokawaI & Katsura, 2019). dc.description.abstractThe topic under study focused on bidirectional violence in intimate relationships, associated with the way in which the parents involved in this context perceive the relationship with their children. The scarcity of studies on the subject has given relevance and pertinence to the study and investigation of the subject. Thus, the aim of this study was to understand whether there were differences in perceptions about the quality of the parent-child relationship between parents involved in intimate relationships characterized by unidirectional violence and parents involved in intimate relationships characterized by bidirectional violence. The sample consisted of 138 participants, of both sexes, aged 18 years or over and with underage children. The present study was conducted online and data were collected through a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Inventory of Marital Violence (CVI) and the Inventory of Parent-Child Relationship (PCRI). Thus, according to the literature, the initial hypothesis was that parents who perpetrated bidirectional violence had a lower perception of the quality of the relationship with their children than parents who perpetrated unidirectional violence and parents without violence. In fact, the research results showed that parents (men and women) involved in intimate relationships characterized by bidirectional violence present perceptions of lower quality in the relationship with their children. In this way, there is a greater tendency for couples to transpose the dynamics they establish in the marital relationship to the relationship with their children (Cox & Paley, 1997; HosokawaI & Katsura, 2019).
