Using the Systemic Lisbon Battery (SLB), the present study, part of the Master's in Applied Neuropsychology at the Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário de Lisboa, aims to analyze the impact on cognitive dimensions and quality of life resulting from a series of cognitive stimulation sessions applied to individuals diagnosed with dementia. The sample for this study was recruited from the Neuroestimulation Unit for Dementia at the Casa de Saúde da Idanha, exclusively from inpatients. The participants' assessment consisted of applying a predefined protocol, both before and after the intervention/cognitive stimulation sessions. This protocol included the following validated neuropsychological instruments: Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination – ACE-III Portuguese experimental version, Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia – CSDD, Geriatric Depression Scale – GDS-30, Barthel Index, and World Health Organization Quality of Life – BREF - WHOQOL BREF. The sample was composed of two participants with Alzheimer's dementia and one participant with a clinical picture compatible with uncharacterized dementia (who was hospitalized for diagnostic study), aged between 66 and 84 years. Considering the sample size, the results were based on an inferential analysis of the values obtained from the pre- and post-intervention neuropsychological assessments using the SLB platform. The results obtained evidenced a substantial improvement in the health and quality of life of the participants, as demonstrated by the post-intervention tests that assessed general cognitive functioning and quality of life. Although there were individual variations, overall, all participants benefited from the intervention, suggesting the efficacy of this cognitive intervention program.
