This report reflects the activities of an internship in athletics at the Escola Básica e Secundária Mestre Domingos Saraiva. The internship involved supervising training sessions with a group of eight athletes (five male and three female), aged between 14 and 17. Despite being part of school sport, some of the athletes also competed in federated events, such as the Regional Championships. The training process integrated general and specific athletics exercises, using a playful approach and variability in stimuli, inspired in Kids Athletics principles. It followed general development principles, incorporating diverse training methods, ranging from general physical training to the technical specificity of disciplines such as the high jump, long jump, weight throw and hurdles races. Competitively, the athletes participated in various regional and national competitions, standing out for their consistent and progressive performance throughout the internship. The technical-scientific study aimed to analyze the impact of a 12-week training program on athletes of both genders selected for the study, analyzing whether or not there are improvements in the motor capacities of the different physical performance variables under study, namely handgrip strength, horizontal jump, 40 m sprint, agility in the 5 x 10 m test and aerobic capacity in the 6 min walk test. The results showed significant progress, especially in aerobic endurance (up to an 11.62% increase in males) and agility (improvements of 8.73% in males and 3.19% in females). Despite some individual variations, an overall positive evolution was observed in all the tests, with the exception of handgrip in the females. The athletes' progress, both in their physical abilities and competitive performance, highlights the importance of multidimensional programs in athletic development, reflecting the success of the methodologies used. This work reinforces the importance of inclusive and effective sports practices. The internship developed as part of the Master's in Sports Training proved to be an extremely enriching experience, both personally and professionally, allowing for the application of theoretica knowledge to be applied in a real context.
