In contemporary society, the daily consumption of online information has become a common practice among Portuguese citizens. While the internet has brought numerous advantages, it has also introduced significant disadvantages, such as misinformation and associated informational disorders. For this reason, it is necessary to strengthen media literacy. This issue affects citizens across all age groups, who play the role of consumers and producers of information in the digital context. It is urgent to reflect on the implications of their interactions in this environment. Despite the existence of several projects aimed at addressing this issue, current solutions remain insufficient to meet actual needs, as acknowledged by citizens themselves. Thus, the following research question arises: “What type of model or proposal for a media literacy program would be most effective in educating citizens?” To address the research question, a mixed-methods approach was adopted. Firstly, a general questionnaire on the topic under analysis was conducted (N=101). Subsequently, a second questionnaire provided guidance for the development of the proposal entitled “Minute of Literacy” (N=101). In addition, seven interviews were conducted with professionals working in the field of social communication. The proposal was designed to be implemented across various platforms, including newspapers, radio, television, and native digital media. Its development is based on the key recommendations of the study participants, considering aspects such as the preferred format, the most utilized media channels, ideal duration, representative colors, and the priority themes to be addressed. Keywords: Media literacy; Media literacy intervention projects; Digital skills; Responsible citizenship; Social communication media.
