This report outlines the academic and professional trajectory of the intern coach during the 2016/2017 competitive season with the senior men’s football team of Real Sport Clube. Operating within the competitive framework of the Campeonato de Portugal Prio, the team faced high strategic demands, ultimately securing the national title and earning promotion to the second tier. The club’s technical and organizational structure enabled the intern to engage in a deep and multidisciplinary intervention, encompassing weekly planning, session execution, load management, and performance analysis. Throughout the 47-week internship, the coach actively contributed to training and match-related operations, applying context-specific methodologies aligned with defined performance objectives. The organization of weekly microcycles, content distribution, and alignment with the tactical game model reflected consistent practices with highperformance training standards. Load adaptation, functional monitoring, and integration of game phases facilitated the consolidation of professional competencies in an authentic training environment. The technical-scientific study developed within this internship investigated the evolution of training methods applied over the season, highlighting an increased level of specificity and contextualization in the exercises used. A gradual transition was observed from General and Specific-General Preparation Methods toward Specific Preparation Methods, accompanied by greater prevalence of contextual drills and alignment with tactical systems — evidencing a strong connection between methodological planning and competitive demands. As a synthesis of the internship process, the experience proved instrumental in enhancing the intern coach’s technical, pedagogical, and analytical competencies. The intersection between theoretical knowledge and professional practice validated the scientific and methodological maturity achieved, representing an applied, reflective development framework tailored to high-performance sport contexts.
