Resumo
Os guias de apoio às boas práticas de fabrico, são um instrumento valioso para auxiliar os operadores das empresas do sector alimentar qualquer que seja a etapa da cadeia considerada, a cumprir com os princípios e normas gerais da legislação alimentar bem como os requisitos de higiene dos alimentos.
A União Europeia assumiu como política prioritária no âmbito da cadeia alimentar, a necessidade de assegurar um elevado nível de proteção da vida e da saúde humana, da saúde e bem-estar animal e do meio ambiente. A prossecução dessa mesma política obriga á salvaguarda dos requisitos de segurança dos alimentos, desde a sua origem até ao seu consumo. A segurança alimentar no seio da UE, considera não só os géneros alimentícios, bem como os alimentos para animais, no âmbito do lema: “Do Prado ao Prato”.
A produção de alimentos para animais de companhia tem como principal objetivo a manutenção da saúde, bem-estar e longevidade dos mesmos, mediante o recurso a dietas seguras e de adequada qualidade, em conformidade com as disposições legais em vigor.
A indústria dos alimentos transformados secos para animais de companhia tem atualmente um impacto socioeconómico considerável no setor das agroindústrias, acompanhando o crescimento significativo dos últimos anos na detenção e humanização de animais de companhia por parte dos agregados familiares.
Importa desde já garantir que todas as empresas do setor funcionam com requisitos de segurança harmonizados e evitando praticas desleais de comércio.
O Manual de Boas Praticas elaborado no âmbito desta dissertação, constitui-se como um conjunto de recomendações e linhas diretrizes em matérias de segurança e higiene de processos e produtos para alimentação animal, pretendendo ser uma ferramenta pratica e útil para que todos os operadores do setor possam desenvolver sistemas robustos de produção e gestão da segurança dos alimentos transformados secos para animais de companhia produzidos.
The guides to support good manufacturing practices are a valuable tool to help food business operators, whatever the stage of the chain considered, to comply with the general principles and standards laws that regulate the production process and hygiene requirements of the food kinds. Pursuing that policy requires the preservation of food safety requirements, from its origin to its consumption. Food safety within the EU considers not only foodstuffs, as well as animal feed, under the motto: “Farm to Fork”. The main objective of pet the food production is the maintenance of their health, well-being and longevity, through the use of safe and adequate quality diets, in agreement with the legal provisions in force. The dry processed pet food industry currently has a considerable socio-economic impact on the agro-industry sector, subsequent of the significant growth in recent years in the ownership and humanization of pet animals by households. It is important to ensure that all companies in the sector operate with harmonized safety requirements avoiding unfair trade practices. The Manual of Good Practices elaborated within the scope of this dissertation, constitutes a set of recommendations and guidelines in matters of safety and hygiene of processes and products for animal feed, intending to be a practical and useful tool for all operators in the sector to develop robust production systems to manage the safety of the of dry processed pet foods.
