Resumo
Pretende este trabalho explorar a adaptação da obra literária para cinema e
audiovisual, através de um projeto de adaptação para argumento cinematográfico/série
televisiva do romance Da Anunciada, da escritora açoriana Madalena San-Bento, sobre
a vida e obra da Madre Teresa Da Anunciada, fundadora do culto do Senhor Santo Cristo
dos Milagres, a segunda mais antiga devoção religiosa dos Açores e a maior no
arquipélago. Este projeto de adaptação surge aqui como instrumento para a análise e
fundamentação teórica dos aspetos envolventes da escrita do argumento
cinematográfico e televisivo, original ou adaptado, assim como, mais especificamente,
das problemáticas inerentes à adaptação cinematográfica/audiovisual de obras
literárias.
A abordagem ao tema parte da premissa de que o guião, original ou adaptado, é um
intermedium, um elo de ligação entre o domínio da escrita e o do cinema e audiovisual.
Essa qualidade de intermedium, embora presente tanto no guião original como no
adaptado, enquanto instrumentos que utilizam o medium da escrita para transportar
uma narrativa para o medium do cinema/audiovisual, adquire uma outra dimensão no
guião adaptado, na medida em que este transubstancia uma narrativa que já conheceu
um público no medium da escrita, para o medium do cinema/audiovisual. Com esta
premissa em mente, o trabalho empreende uma viagem do domínio da escrita ao
domínio da imagem em movimento e do som, explorando os mecanismos da construção
do guião, analisando a fundamentação teórica subjacente a esta área, e acompanhando
a narrativa da vida da Madre Teresa enquanto leitmotiv para a reflexão crítica sobre esta
questão da transubstanciação da obra literária para o cinema/audiovisual.
This work intends to explore the adaptation of the literary work to cinema and audiovisual, through an adaptation project for cinema/television series of the novel “Da Anunciada”, by the Azorean writer Madalena San-Bento, about the life and work of Mother Teresa Da Anunciada, founder of the cult of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres, the second oldest religious devotion in the Azores and the largest in the archipelago. This adaptation project appears in here as an instrument for the analysis and theoretical foundation of the aspects surrounding the writing of the original or adapted film and television screenplay, as well as, more specifically, of the inherent problems in the film and audiovisual adaptation of literary works. The approach to the theme begins with the premise that the script, original or adapted, is an intermedium, a link between the domain of the writing and that of film and audiovisual. This quality of intermedium, although present in both the original and the adapted scripts as instruments that use the writing medium to transport a narrative to the film/audiovisual medium, acquires another dimension in the adapted script, as this transubstantiates a narrative that has already met an audience in the writing medium into the film/audiovisual medium. With this premise in mind, this work undertakes a journey from the domain of writing to the domain of moving images and sound, exploring the mechanisms of script construction, analyzing the theoretical foundations underlying this area and following the narrative of the life of Mother Teresa as a leitmotiv for critical reflection on this issue of transubstantiating literary work into film/audiovisual
